From Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Paris, Munich, Prague, to Berlin, I’m sharing some of our favorite experiences, food, and places we went while traveling Europe.

Starting with our top three cities, that we visited:

1. Prague – so much history, beauty, and culture in this city! Not to mention great food!
2. Amsterdam – canals are my fave! This city has so much to offer – we didn’t have a ton of time here, but we really enjoyed the area, it’s history, walking the canals, seeing the Anne Frank house, and trying dutch pancakes!
3. Paris – what is there not to do here?! We found that we could easily walk 15 thousand steps a day, EASILY! After we found out that the Palace of Versaille was closed on the day we originally planned to go, we wound up having to do Versailles & The Louvre in one day, and walked nearly 20k steps! That was a long day, but totally worth it. We found some great restaurants (one of which, we went to twice!), so many sites, & lots of activities!

But in all honesty, we loved every single place we visited because each place had it’s own unique aspects, types of food, architecture, & places to see. But, I would most certainly put Prague at the top.

How we traveled:

We landed in Copenhagen, then our main source of traveling was by train or subway in the cities. However, there was one day we had to get from Copenhagen to Amsterdam, but our train was cancelled, so we went from a long, 10 hour travel day, to an even longer 17 hour travel day, going from 3 trains to a train from Copenhagen > train, Nykøbing > bus, Stockguard > ferry, Puttgarden > train, Lübeck > train, Hamburg >  train, Dusbürg > train, Amsterdam. Then finally we made it to our room just before midnight. That was a travel day I don’t want to repeat. Hah! At least we made friends along the way & now have this story to share forever.

• Oktoberfest! (so fun if you are able to go in September/ early October)
• Munich’s glockenspiel – plays at 11a, noon, 5p, daily
• St. Peter’s Church – go to the top & see the city!

• Munich Residenz

Prague

• The Charles Bridge
• Old Town Square

Berlin

• Brandenburg Gate

This is all we had time for since Berlin was basically just a layover before our next train. But, it was a beautiful site to see in person!

Tips if you plan to travel Europe:

1. If you plan to travel Europe & visit cities that are far apart & don’t want to drive it, then get a EuroRail Pass. We traveled many countries, so we got the global pass. Keep in mind that they’re not cheap ($300-600) per person depending on 1st/2nd class and how many countries you travel to. They can save you plenty of time in the end (unless you have bad luck like we did – hah!). We got the 1st class pass, which was only about $100 more at the time, mainly for the more leg room & wifi on board.
2. If you get a EuroRail pass, then plan your routes ahead of time and purchase your seat ticket in advance as well. These run an additional $20-40 per seat for first class.
3. Get the Paris Pass if you plan to stay at least 2 full days – totally worth being able to travel the subway with the subway pass & see & do pretty much anything without having to pay (more), or stand in a long line.
4. You might be wondering why we landed in Copenhagen…it’s because I found $550 round trip flights because of an app called Hopper – get it! You’ll be so glad you did if you travel & want to get the best deal.
