Engagement at Ashcroft: A Winter Picnic and Toast for Quynh and Jaypee

A Serene Engagement at Ashcroft

There is a quiet, untouched beauty to the Castle Creek Valley that makes an Engagement at Ashcroft feel like stepping into a private winter wonderland. For Quynh and Jaypee, this historic ghost town provided the perfect backdrop for a day that was as intentional as their eight-year journey together. From a cozy lobby meetup to a celebratory winter picnic, every moment reflected their deep connection.

From Robotics Rivals to a Lifelong Team

Quynh and Jaypee’s story began in the robotics lab at San Jose State University. After six months of working side-by-side as teammates, Quynh decided to make a move and asked the “smart and cute” Jaypee out on a date. They officially started their journey on April 20, 2017, and have been inseparable ever since.

While Quynh was drawn to Jaypee’s reliability and intelligence, Jaypee found himself captivated by her extroverted, outgoing personality—the perfect lively counter to his introverted nature. After eight years of growing together, Jaypee knew it was finally the right time to ask the question they both always knew the answer to.

The Journey to Ashcroft

We kicked off by meeting at the Mollie Gibson Lodge lobby before heading out toward the mountains together. The drive into the valley set the tone for the session: peaceful, snowy, and incredibly romantic.

Once we arrived, we set up a beautiful winter picnic in the snow. An Engagement at Ashcroft allows for these slow, intimate moments that larger mountain peaks sometimes miss. We captured the two of them sharing a celebratory toast, laughing amidst the historic ruins and towering evergreens. If you love the idea of a quiet, scenic getaway, you can find more Aspen engagement inspiration on my blog.

A Love Built on Listening

What makes this couple truly unique is the way they balance one another. Quynh admires Jaypee’s genuine interest in people; he is a rare soul who truly loves to listen and care for those around him. In return, Jaypee

is fueled by Quynh’s infectious liveliness. Seeing them together in the stillness of the ghost town, it was clear that they aren’t just partners—they are each other’s greatest supporters.

Celebrating Quynh and Jaypee

Quynh and Jaypee, documenting your Engagement at Ashcroft was such a highlight. Your story, starting from college robotics to a snowy toast in Aspen, is a beautiful testament to patience and partnership. I am so honored to have captured this milestone for you both!
