Capturing an Engagement Session in Aspen is always a dream, especially when the couple brings a story as heartfelt as Grayson and Connor’s. For their session, we explored the best of both worlds: the charming, high-end energy of Aspen Downtown and the breathtaking, vast vistas at the top of Aspen Mountain. These two locations offer a perfect contrast between urban elegance and the raw beauty of the Colorado wilderness.

A Surprise Proposal at the Duck Pond

Grayson and Connor’s journey to this Engagement Session in Aspen began with a perfectly executed surprise in Atlanta. While Grayson was between careers, Connor suggested a weekday lunch date at her favorite spot. He proposed making a day of it by stopping by their favorite neighborhood park, the Duck Pond, beforehand.

Grayson didn’t suspect a thing! It was a random Wednesday, just a week before her birthday. Connor had secretly designed the ring and gone shopping while Grayson was in Europe earlier that month. He even visited the park ahead of time to show the photographer where to hide and to pray over the spot. When he hit a knee, the happy tears flowed immediately. It was a private, sacred moment that set the stage for their beautiful future together.

From Downtown Streets to Mountain Peaks

We started their Engagement Session in Aspen by walking through the iconic streets of Aspen Downtown. The historic architecture and high-end storefronts provided a sophisticated backdrop for their portraits. As an Aspen photographer, I love how the city’s energy complements a couple’s excitement.
