Jackson & Skylar’s Proposal | Maroon Bells

This intimate proposal at Maroon Bells captured nature’s grandeur at its finest. Moreover, on this special day, these peaks created the perfect backdrop for a timeless love story.

Jackson and Skylar, a couple whose love story blossomed from a chance encounter to a deep, enduring bond, had chosen this iconic location to mark a significant milestone in their journey together. As a photographer, I had the privilege of capturing the magic of their proposal, a moment that was as intimate as it was awe-inspiring.

A Love Story For the Ages 

Their story began innocently enough, a chance meeting at the beach during their freshman year of high school. A minor mishap – a cut from a barnacle – led to a connection that would last a lifetime. 

Jackson recalls “I bumped into her friends at the beach who were walking to her house and told me to join. We were swimming in the river and I cut my ankle on a barnacle and she had to help me get bandaged up.“ 

Their bond deepened over the years, and by their junior year, “I eventually asked her on a date in October of our Junior year and it’s been amazing ever since. “

He also recalls his first impression, “She seemed very sweet and kind. She was funny and beautiful. She had a very genuine and good-natured soul that I felt very drawn to. I’d imagine she would say similar things about me.

A Dream Come True 

Colorado held a special place in their hearts. Previously, they had visited Aspen for Skylar’s 21st birthday. One particular hike to Crater Lake, with its stunning views and serene atmosphere, left an indelible mark on them. It was here, amidst the towering peaks and crystal-clear lakes, that Jackson had planned to pop the question.

As they hiked the trail, the anticipation was palpable. The stunning scenery provided the perfect backdrop for Jackson’s heartfelt proposal. 

They even carved their initials in the tree off the trail, a symbolic gesture that marked their love story.

It’s a reminder that even in the grandest of settings, it’s the simple moments and the genuine connections that truly matter. And as they embark on their next chapter, I have no doubt that their love will continue to grow, just like the majestic peaks of the Maroon Bells.
