A Chance Encounter

A Surprise Proposal at the Top of Aspen Mountain began with a chance encounter in 2019. Fate brought together two souls from different worlds. Stella, a Tampa Bay resident, decided on a whim to visit Austin, Texas. Coincidentally, Robbie was (and still) living there. 

She took an impromptu trip with a friend to Austin to spend the weekend. On the same weekend a few of Robbie’s friends were visiting from out of town. 

When they met while out at a bar, he said, “I was immediately drawn to her but figured I’d never see her again being that she was from Florida. But I kept reaching out and weirdly enough she kept answering my texts.”

Then, “After about 3 days of texting, I remember we both sent the same text at the exact same time “Can we talk on the phone?” Then subsequently both immediately called each other at the same time multiple times until one of us finally got through. Right out of the gate for the first 2 years of our relationship we did long distance, talking on the phone and doing periodic trips to see each other (all during covid which proved to be very advantageous since we could get a round trip flight for around $40.) For the first time there was never a moment where either of us felt like we needed to pretend to be someone else.”

Despite the geographical distance, their bond grew stronger with each phone call and virtual visit. Their long-distance relationship, forged during the pandemic, allowed them to truly connect on a deep level, free from the distractions of physical proximity.

A Mountaintop Proposal

To celebrate their love and commitment, Robbie planned a surprise proposal to Aspen, Colorado. The picturesque mountain town, with its stunning scenery, provided the perfect backdrop for his special surprise.

On a beautiful day, Robbie and Stella went on a gondola ride to the Top of Aspen Mountain. As they reached the summit, a breathtaking panorama unfolded before them. 

With the mountain peaks as a witness, Robbie turned to Stella and poured out his heart. In a moment filled with love, laughter, and a touch of nervous excitement, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Overwhelmed with joy and surprise, Stella immediately said “yes.”
