Dylan and Emma’s Proposal at Aspen Meadows

There’s something truly magical about a surprise proposal, especially in the beautiful mountains of Aspen, Colorado. Dylan planned the perfect moment to ask Emma the big question — and I had the honor of capturing every second of it at Aspen Meadows.

The Love Story That Started in High School

Dylan and Emma’s story goes way back. They both grew up in a suburb near Chicago, Illinois and went to the same high school, but didn’t officially meet until later. Dylan was in college at UW-Madison, and Emma was still in high school. They had mutual friends and eventually reconnected years later in the Fall of 2020. In 2021, they started dating — even though they lived in different states.

Their love grew strong through long-distance. Dylan was working in Chicago while Emma studied medicine in Boston. After a few years apart, they finally moved in together in Nashville, Tennessee, where Emma began her residency.

They’ve known each other for almost 10 years — a journey full of love, laughter, and lots of memories.

Why Emma Is So Special to Dylan

Dylan shared with me how much he admires Emma. He loves her intelligence, her kindness, and her one-of-a-kind sense of humor. He describes her as confident, driven, and deeply connected with family and friends. He feels lucky to be by her side — and after hearing their story, I think anyone would agree!

One moment that stood out in their relationship was a trip they took to Las Vegas in 2021 to see the band Phish. It was early in their relationship, and even though Emma wasn’t a fan of the band, she went along just for the experience. That trip made Dylan realize: she was the one.

Planning the Perfect Aspen Proposal

Dylan worked closely with Emma’s mom to choose the perfect ring — based on all the inspiration Emma had sent him. She didn’t want to see the final ring ahead of time, so Dylan made sure it was a complete surprise.

And then came the big moment: Aspen Meadows. With mountain views and quiet surroundings, it was the perfect place to pop the question.

As their Aspen proposal photographer, I stayed hidden nearby to capture the whole thing — from the moment Emma turned around to Dylan down on one knee. Her reaction was everything: joy, shock, and pure love. The photos say it all!
