Kelsey & Jon’s wedding at The Laurel was so beautiful! I normally know my couples a bit better for my blog posts. This situation was a little different: I actually spoke with Kelsey for the first time on the Monday before her wedding! They booked another photographer, but didn’t feel comfortable with moving forward with them for the wedding, so she emailed me in a slight panic. However, once we spoke over the phone only about an hour later, I assured Kelsey I’d take care of them & would be honored to photograph their big day! I hated that they had to go through the panic of trying to find someone else last minute, but they had great attitudes about everything. I couldn’t wait to meet them, but was only sad we didn’t meet sooner than their wedding week! These two are such a sweet couple & their wedding was so fun and relaxed – it was one of those weddings where at the end of the night, all the vendors made a comment on how great the day went & I’m so glad to have been a factor in making it run so smoothly.
From what I learned about Kelsey & Jon on their wedding day is that they are both huge sports fans & love all things football, golf, & baseball (probably more, though). They both even made comments in their vows about the sports teams they enjoy. Kelsey promised to support Jon’s favorite football team (the Chiefs if I recall correctly), except when the Patriots were playing. It was so funny, Jon made practically the same comment in his vows, just the other way around. Another favorite moment during the ceremony was when they also made repeated comments about Jon’s dog & how Kelsey would be a great dog mom (as she already is).
My absolute favorite moments during the reception though, were when Jon rapped a song “For Better or for Poorman” (his last name). Everyone was laughing so much, & even started to sing along. Kelsey then surprised Jon big time with a rap of her own to him & all her bridesmaids got up as her backup dancers. These were seriously a couple of the best wedding raps I’ve heard & they were both hilarious!! Kelsey & Jon are so in love and on their big day, you could nothing less than love & commitment toward one other.
Kelsey & Jon, thank you so much for having me document this special time in your lives & putting trust in me to photograph your big day, even though it was last minute. 😉 You both are so lovely people & I am so blessed to have been able to work with you & your families. I am so excited to be sharing your wedding day blog with you and everyone else! You two are such a beautiful couple – congratulations and cheers to many years together that are full of love and happiness!
