I’m so grateful for these two guys in my life!! Nitrous is the sweetest pup and always wants to cuddle with anyone sitting or laying down, all 80 pounds of him wants to be on someone. He loves the dog park, walks to the field where we play, and of course, Joe, our mailman. Whenever the mailman comes to our mailbox, Nitrous goes crazy when he hears the truck pull up. He literally won’t stop play barking until I put his leash on & we walk outside. It’s the highlight of his day!
Daniel has been there for me through it all over the last 10 years we’ve been together, even the years before that as my best friend. He knows me so well and is there anytime I need him, unless it’s to do chores around the house. 😉 Hah!
As we come into the new year together, a few things we’ve learned together this year are:
- On a trip we take together, I must incorporate at least half a day of fishing. Or I’ll never hear the end of it.
- Daniel prefers things, I prefer experiences. Basically, we comprise a lot.
- After seeing Daniel be around Mia, our niece, I know he’ll be such a great dad someday.
- Daniel prefers when I make a home cooked meal, but when he cooks, he says “It’s the best (insert food that I’ve made before) I’ve ever tried.” I prefer when he cooks, so I’m only left with cleaning up instead of doing #allthethings.
Our Goals:
- We really don’t get much time together with Daniel finishing his degree (which should only be another 2 years). So, because we don’t have much time to spend with each other, my goal for us in 2019 is to be intentional with our time when we’re together. i.e. Plan intentional date nights (otherwise we won’t go out for weeks or months at a time) and plan out what we’re doing on his days off, even if it’s doing things around the house. Like, cooking breakfast together, watching a movie, and ending the night with homemade cocktails. It doesn’t have to be complicated, but I just want to enjoy the time like that as a couple while we still can, before we have kids in the future.
- When I asked Daniel what his goal for us this year was, he replied, “For me not to kill you. I think that’s a good goal.” I put him on the spot, but I’m over here rolling my eyes because he’s just a butt sometimes. After I told him I was going to put it on my blog, he came back a second time with “to go camping, try new activities, and to find a new hobby we both enjoy sharing.” A much better set of goals I think. 😉
Anyway, I hope everyone has a great year ahead! What are some of your goals solo or as a couple if you have a significant other?
Here are some of our (first professional) family portraits with Nitrous! 🙂
