Proposal at Mollie Gibson Park: Miguel and Elizabeth’s FSU to Aspen Story
A Breath-Taking Mountain Surprise
When you spend five years sharing a small apartment, you truly know everything about your partner. Therefore, a proposal at Mollie Gibson Park was the perfect way for Miguel and Elizabeth to transition into a lifelong adventure together. This milestone marked a beautiful shift from their cozy life in Tampa to a grand future. Ultimately, the dramatic backdrop of the Aspen mountains mirrored the expansive love they have built since college.
Planning a Proposal at Mollie Gibson Park and Aspen Downtown
Choosing a proposal at Mollie Gibson Park offers a beautiful, secluded mountain stage. However, the nearby streets of aspen downtown also provide a classic, sophisticated finish for celebratory photos. By combining these locations, we captured the quiet beauty of the park alongside the vibrant energy of the town. Consequently, this mix gave their special day a timeless and versatile feel.
The Beer Olympics Connection
Their story began at Florida State University, where a fluke of housing and a Labor Day trip to Destin changed everything. Living in adjacent townhouses, Miguel and Elizabeth didn’t truly connect until they were randomly paired together for a “Beer Olympics” tournament.
Though both were dating other people at the time, that weekend sparked an undeniable connection. Within two weeks, they were both single and starting a “talking phase” that would eventually lead them through graduation, long distance between Atlanta and Florida, and finally moving into a 1-bed/1-bath in Downtown Tampa. Miguel admits Elizabeth probably thought he was an “idiot” at first, but what he saw in her was the most sincere, kind-hearted person he had ever met.
Universal Empathy and Selflessness
Miguel describes Elizabeth as having “universal empathy.” She is the kind of person who is always putting others before herself—the most selfless soul he has ever encountered. After surviving five years of living in a small space together, Miguel realized by year two that she was the one.
To honor her, he spent eight months secretly working with a jeweler to design the perfect ring. Based on her Pinterest inspiration and a ring-shopping trip a year prior, he meticulously tweaked the design until it was exactly right.
A Proposal from New Heights
For a proposal at Mollie Gibson Park, I wanted to capture the scale of the landscape they were standing in. To elevate the experience, Miguel opted for a drone shot add-on. Seeing the couple standing amidst the vast snowy terrain from an aerial view perfectly mirrored the “big” nature of the step they were taking.
As Miguel dropped to one knee, the drone captured the pristine white park and the surrounding peaks in a way that ground-level photos simply can’t. If you love the idea of a scenic mountain session with a modern twist, check out more Aspen proposal ideas on my blog.
